Vanessa Paradis Live was recorded April 1993, at the mythical Olympia theater in Paris. At first, Vanessa was unsure about releasing a live album; she was still self-concious about what her stage performance would sound like. But, once on the road, the sold-out shows and the positive reviews gave her all the confidence she needed.

The album contains two covers, Jacques Dutronc's "Les Cactus" and Marianne Faithfull's "As Tears Go By." It also features a spectacular rendition of "La Vague a Lames" in tribute to Serge Gainsbourg. At the end of the every concert, Vanessa would dress in white for the encore and sing "Lonely Rainbows" acapella; without fail, she would cry.
When Vanessa Paradis Live was first released, Canal+ broadcasted two specials: the April 1993 concert, and a documentary that followed Vanessa during the entire tour (available in the Caps section). For a limited time, the CD was sold with the Natural High Tour photobook, shot by Claude Gassian (now out of print).
